LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Police are reporting that they have located the body of a real estate agent who disappeared nearly a week ago after she was supposed to show a home.
After a suspect who was taken into custody Monday was booked, police obtained information that led them to an area of Cabot, Ark. Investigators located a body in a shallow grave on the property. The body was identified as Beverly Lyn Carter, 51.
Based on the latest development, Arron Lewis' charges will be amended to capital murder.
Carter was reported missing by her husband, Carl Carter, on Thursday after she was supposed to meet an unknown person at a home in Scott to show a house around 5:30 p.m.
After three and half hours of no contact, her husband went to the home and found his wife's car with her purse and wallet inside, but she was nowhere to be found, and investigators have found no trace of a crime.
Lewis remains jailed on the murder charges and a parole hold for the Arkansas Department of Corrections. He was originally booked on kidnapping charges around 12:40 a.m. Tuesday morning and was being held on a $1 million bond.
Search crews from all over the state were in Scott Monday looking for any sign of Carter. Her family has been notified that her body was found.
